NFL Week One Results and Surprises September 10, 2012

The 2012 – 2013 NFL season is underway and there are already several surprises we din’t see coming.  Lets begin by saying the biggest surprise was the Redskins win over the Saints 40 – 32 and the play of rookie QB Robert Griffin III or RG3.  The skins outplayed New Orleans in all three phases of the game, offense, defense and special teams.  RG3 had a record day for Rookie Quarterbacks completing 19 of 26 for 320 yards and 2 Touchdowns along with 10 rushes for 42 yards and a decisive win on the road against a good team.  This was a very impressive win for the Washington Redskins, let’s watch how the season unfolds.

The second biggest surprise was the New York Jets crushing the Buffalo Bill 48 – 28.  The two stories that we didn’t see coming where the emergence of Jets Rookie Wide Receiver Stephen Hill, who, in hist first NFL game caught 5 passes for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Mark Sanchez shocked his fans going 19 for 27 for 266 yards and 3 TD’s, crazy.    Who would’ve thought any of this would have happened for the J E T S, Jets, Jets, Jets?

The next shocker was the San Francisco 49ers defeating the Green Bay Packers 30 – 22.  The Packers and Aaron Rodgers were outplayed by a strong defense by San Francisco, both teams are still considered playoff teams, let’s watch this closely and see how it all goes this season.

The other strange happenings this week were the Dallas Cowboys beating the New York Giants 24 – 17 and the very close game between Philly and Cleveland that ended 17 – 16 with an Eagles win while Mike Vick threw 4 interceptions and looked like a high school caliber QB.  It was cool to see Peyton Manning’s return to the NFL with a Denver Bronco’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers 31 – 19 where he went 19 of 23 for 253 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Seattle Arizona games was a good contest ending 20 – 16 Arizona with their backup QB Kevin Kolb driving the team for the final go ahead TD in the fourth quarter.  There was one overtime game that ended 26 – 23, the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars in a great match up.  One honorable mention player is Cecil Shorts a wide receiver from the Jaguars who caught 4 balls for 74 yards and 1 touchdown, he came out of nowhere to produce solid NFL numbers.  Two more games still play on Monday Night Football but already we have seen allot things happen we did count on, should be a great season, stay tuned.
