2019 Atlanta Super Bowl Countdown: Super Bowl XLVIII

The Road to Super Bowl 53 goes from eight to four teams this weekend, and we’re heading back to New York’s first cold-weather Super Bowl of the modern era — Super Bowl XLVIII.

The Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos went head to head in Super Bowl XLVIII on February 2, 2014. This game was played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey! The total amount of people in attendance for this game was 82,529. The National Anthem was sung by Renee Fleming.

MVP of Super Bowl XLVIII was linebacker Malcolm Smith. He ended up returning one of the interceptions 69 yards for a touchdown. He also recovered a fumble and made 9 tackles during his time on the field. The game aired on Fox Network and was the most watched game at the time in Super Bowl History. There were a total of 167 million viewers. Joe Buck was one of the announcers, along with Troy Aikman, Pam Oliver, and Erin Andrews.

The cost of a 30 second commercial was $4 million dollars and the national Nielsen rating was 46.4 nationally. Bruno Mars and The Red Hot Chili Peppers were in charge of the halftime show. Super Bowl XLVIII was also notorious for being the first Super Bowl played outdoors, even while it was cold outside.
