NFL Weekly Recap: Week 4

The 2017 NFL season has been if nothing, an exciting and unpredictable ride through four weeks so far. Taking a look at the action in Week 4 on the road to the 2018 Super Bowl LII.

NFC North Beatdown

This week’s Thursday Night Football matchup featured the historic rivalry renewed between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers, NFC North divisional rivals. But that was about where the similarities ended on Thursday night.

The Packers would come out hot and quarterback Aaron Rodgers would lead the team to a rout of the Bears, winning 35-14. Though just throwing for 179 yards, Rodgers tossed four touchdowns in the matchup, two of which to wide receiver Jordy Nelson, leading the Packers to a 3-1 record to start the year. The Bears fell to 1-3, with quarterback Mike Glennon struggling, throwing two interceptions.

Just One Undefeated…

With the Atlanta Falcons losing to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, that left just the Kansas City Chiefs as the only remaining undefeated team as they headed into their Monday Night Football matchup against the Washington Redskins. And with an offensive attack led by quarterback Alex Smith and breakout rookie Kareem Hunt, the Chiefs would remain undefeated, defeating the Redskins 29-20 and moving to 4-0 on the young season.

…And Plenty of Winless

Unlike the exclusivity of the “undefeated” club, we have plenty of teams that remain in search of their first victory of the season heading into Week 5.

Unlike the expected struggles from the San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns, who both sit at 0-4, there are two surprises on the list of teams looking for a win; the New York Giants and Los Angeles Chargers.

Three of the four teams, minus the Cleveland Browns, came within seconds of winning their first game. Both the 49ers and Giants were defeated on last-second, game-winning walk off victories, San Francisco’s coming in overtime. The Chargers would fall to the red hot Philadelphia Eagles by just two points, 26-24, and the Browns were beaten handily by the Cincinnati Bengals, 31-7.
